Cut Through BS (My Superpower)

Everyone dreams of having a superpower – a wand to wave, a genie in a bottle, a wishbone that grants whatever they desire. But what about you? What’s your superpower?

Think about it. Superman had it. Spiderman, Batman, The Hulk, Wonder Woman, – decades of famous characters we all loved at some point. And be honest, didn’t you secretly wish you had one of their powers? I always wished for the elongated arm one!

If we are to think in modern day terms – famous movie stars, musicians, artists – their superpower was their craft. Their passion. I've heard many a musician say, “When I am singing, I become a different person.” It applies to dance, to any and every craft. It becomes their strength in times of sorrow, and in dealing with struggles.

But here’s the cut through: our superpower isn’t out there in comics. It’s in here – in how we live, breathe, and communicate. It’s in what we think, feel, say, and do. It’s what we believe about ourselves, and about others.

Everyone dreams of having a superpower – a wand to wave, a genie in a bottle, a wishbone that grants whatever they desire. But what about you? What’s your superpower? Do you even know if you have one? And if not, why not? What’s it good for anyway?

These are questions that roll through my mind. The word superpower is new to my vocabulary, but right now it sits at the top of my list. Why? Because I’ve realised something: if I can know it, see it, and speak it – then everyone else has got one too. The only difference is some people just don’t know what theirs is… yet.

CTB – The Core

CTB is about problem ownership. It’s about identifying what the real problem is, calling it out, and keeping it real. It’s about shifting from blame (“you”) to responsibility (“I”), and in doing so, gaining clarity, self-respect, and stronger connections.

CTB is about owning what’s yours – not carrying what belongs to someone else. It’s about knowing where you stand with yourself, drawing your line in the sand, and letting others know where they stand with you. It’s about dancing to the beat of your own drum, not someone else’s noise.

CTB is practical, empowering, and straight to the point.

The Three C’s – Allies of the Superpower

Most of all, CTB is about how I communicate with myself – in my brain, in my gut, and in my choices. It’s about knowing, seeing, and speaking my truth. Then, and only then, can I communicate respectfully, truthfully, and impactfully with others.

That means I can speak the truth with courage, confidence, and clarity – my superpower’s allies. I embrace these allies because they support and strengthen my superpower.

The Three A’s – Anchors of My Superpower

To keep communication true and congruent, I need grounding. That comes from having something solid, strong, and steadfast to hold on to. For me, that anchor is the Three A’s:

Authenticity keeps me real and true – it’s who I am and who I believe myself to be. I hold onto it, embrace it, and live it.

Action allows me to step forward with decisiveness. If a meeting calls for it, I know I can act, because I carry my anchor with me.

Alignment is knowing when everything is falling into place, when life flows and I’m on the right track. It’s the sense of “this is right.” Even if I stumble, I’ll likely land back where I’m meant to be.

My Superpower – Supercharged

My superpower isn’t just about how I interact with others. It’s about the interchange that takes place with myself.

• What is my internal dialogue?

• What’s going on in my mind, my gut, my heart?

• How am I making sense of the world within me, and around me?

What am I saying to myself? What do I think of myself? If I’m feeling this way – why? If something doesn’t add up – what’s underneath it?

CTB is my way of cutting through that noise. It’s about listening closely, reframing when needed, and anchoring myself in truth.

That’s my superpower. And the best part? You’ve got one too.

Clear communication is a superpower. And for me, that means Cut Through BS (CTB)
